Hypnosis FAQ's

Hypnosis FAQ's

We understand that hypnotherapy is shrouded in much misinformation and dramatization and may not be something you are particularly familiar with. Though most of our patients believe in the efficacy of the practice, many have questions about it before they are willing to proceed with treatment – and that is a good thing! We believe that you should be completely informed about hypnotherapy before engaging in treatment and proactively endorse the asking of questions! We have listed a few of the top questions we get asked below. If you have any questions that you do not see below, we invite you to get in touch with us and ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed choice about your treatment!

What does hypnosis feel like?

It is important to note that hypnotherapy is a unique experience for every individual. Your experience of hypnotherapy may be entirely different from others. Many patients that we work with report a sensation of complete relaxation, while others have said that they felt as though they were suspended in the moment right before sleep. Whilst your experience may differ from someone else’s, it is vital that you know that hypnosis is non-invasive, meaning that the experience itself is entirely painless. At Deep Focus Hypnosis, we endeavor to ensure relaxation, calm, and peacefulness throughout the process – in this way, regardless of your mind and body’s reaction to the session, you can rest assured it will be a pleasant experience overall.

Will I remember what happened during hypnosis?

As we mentioned above, the process of hypnosis will differ from person to person. Most commonly, individuals will remember the general happenings of their hypnotherapy session but may have trouble recalling exact details. This may not be the case for all patients; some report that they have full recollection of their session. Your unique level of recall will be most impacted by the depth of hypnosis that you enter, as well as the way that your mind and body experience hypnosis. If you are concerned about your level of recall, chat with us and we will endeavor to assist you in this regard.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Hypnotherapy is a non-invasive treatment and does not present any immediate threat to an individual’s well-being. This said, hypnotherapy should not be provided by an unlicensed, inexperienced practitioner or layman. At Deep Focus Hypnosis, we consult with every patient to ensure that there are no underlying mental illnesses or issues that may result in adverse effects as a result of the therapy.

How many sessions will I need?

This is predominantly dependent on the issue that is being addressed by the therapy. Some issues are easily addressed and can be dealt with within a few sessions. Others are deep-rooted and may require several sessions in conjunction with other forms of treatment. We consult with our patients before conducting any hypnotherapy sessions to gain an understanding of their needs and provide a framework for the kind of care we believe would be required.
